movin' ahead so life won't pass me by

welcome welcome to the malamiko industrial complex (volume 10). we are back from tour, it is spring, and i have a renewed appreciation for my own bed.

Our first east coast tour was so much fun, and playing with Hey, ily! every night was such a treasure. It was so nice to connect with folks outside of minnesota and play with so many incredible bands. We did sooooo much driving, but it was all worth it to bring the midwest to the coastal elites (hehehehe).

malamiko and hey, ily! posing onstage after our final show in milwaukee. daisy and caleb are doing the hardcore kid handshake pose, and everyone else is acting silly behind them.

Tour gave me time to slow down, appreciate the scenery, listen to cassette tapes (the only option in the van), and read books – three in one week!

—How to Do Nothing by Jenny O’Dell (the second half)

—The Word for World is Forest by Ursula K. Le Guin

—The Glass Essay (from Glass, Irony, and God) by Anne Carson

—The Mere Future by Sarah Schulman

post-tour news:

We have a website now! https://malamikotheband.com

Designed by our dear friend mark engelmann <3. We will keep the site updated with upcoming shows, blog posts, and the various important links for you all. While we aren’t planning to leave social media platforms, i would like to be less reliant on our tech overlords when distributing information. Also, all social media platforms make me feel like the life is being sucked out of me every time i open them.

Rhys has joined Abe anderson’s Studio Cloud Factory Sound, and they are currently in the process of setting up a new space in saint paul. They are planning to start booking recording sessions in may. You can follow them on instagram for more updates, and there is a website in the works for booking, recording, equipment info, etc.

New album soon? Probably not. But we are back in album mode now that we are back and hope to have it all polished up and ready to go before the year ends. Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a doozy.

mmfwml,
