i could not get through september without a battle
welcome folks to the malamiko industrial complex (volume 7). it feels like fall again.

it has been a busy summer for us. luckily, september is going to be a much lighter month for shows which is giving us a nice opportunity to write and record more new songs. At the moment, we have two new songs fully completed, two songs mostly completed, and two more that are in the early stages of writing. We currently have no idea when new music will be out, but it feels good to get back into the active writing process for a full release.
elephants: i’m not going to dig into anything too deep, but everything has been extremely overwhelming and it has been incredibly difficult to stay balanced this year. For me, that has meant stepping away from a lot of online spaces and reprioritizing where i choose to invest my time and energy. It’s an interesting moment in history where people are (once again) saying things like “…but i’m sure we will get a bunch of great art.”
creatively, i don’t know what else to say about the state of things: everything is terrible bad ass guitar riff**** …Needless to say: i don’t buy into the tortured artist trope because being depressed doesn’t leave me with much energy, creative or otherwise. I usually just play video games and watch a lot of movies instead of writing my magnum opus of despair.
anyway… a queer ritual is back for a big halloween festival this year — i’m going to dress up in juggalo makeup again in order to display my true self. Tickets are going on sale soon, so stay tuned because the lineup is very very good. Hey, we might even premiere more new songs 🥳
this week we have a show at zhora with some fun folks and a show at pilllar to celebrate ray gun youth’s new album (rhys will be opening!) Friday is prom night themed, so dress in your [graduation year] best.
