is it tomorrow or just the end of time?

welcome once again to the malamiko industrial complex (volume 8). the leaves are falling… so is the rest of the world.

we are still deep in the writing process for album #2. This fall has been much quieter for us show-wise (two left on the books for this year), but we’ve been trying out the new material recently. i wish i could say more about the new songs, but i don’t want to spoil the fun.

if you are itching for new music from us, rhys is releasing a solo album on november 7th and is planning a release show on december 11th. the current wrote a wonderful review of the first single in the scouting report:

“Autumn Song” is the first single from Minneapolis-based indie rock band Dream Colors’ upcoming album, Circles the Sun. It’s a fuzzy rock track with pleasantly scratchy guitar strums and assured drum beats. Vocals lie slightly buried in the mix for a sound that borders on murky, but sweet nonetheless. By the time the slower, guitar-only ending kicks in, it leaves the listener on a content note. The band is fronted by Rhys Finnegan, who also plays with Midwest-emo-shoegaze band Malamiko. Dream Colors’ debut EP, Easy Go, is notably calmer and crisper than the new single. So, will the rest of Circles the Sun follow in Finnegan's grungier direction? The answer arrives on Nov. 7. -MR

we are in the early stages of planning a spring tour — our longest and farthest reaching so far. I won’t share any details, but if you have any connections or suggestions for the east side of the country let us know ;)

outside of our music grindset, i’m currently in talks with some friends about setting up some casual (and possibly educational) fighting game events starting next year. 2D fighters have become a recent hobby of mine and part of that love has been the communal aspect — going to the arcade, running round after round with friends, the occasional tournament. It has been a great way to turn my brain off and just focus on a fun activity. (my main games are street fighter 3: third strike & guilty gear accent core +r, but i play a handful of others btw)
